Hi Girls! Can you believe it's the new year already!? Time is rolling by fast and our January meeting is this Monday, the 9th. It's from 8:45 to 11 am. We will be doing our usual of some yummy breakfast...I think it's cinnamon rolls but don't quote me. We always have childcare provided. And we will be making some winter gnomes too!

Our speaker this month is Kinze Schilling! She is a Christ centered woman with a great testimony that she is going to share with us. If you want to find out a little background on her, check out her blog: Schilling Times.

December Meeting

Please join us for our Christmas MOPS meeting on Monday, December 12! It's from 8:45 to 11am and the childcare is provided!

The topic this month is "Risk: Risk what God has given you for others." Sean Allen and hopefully his wife Lori will be joining us to speak on the subject!

We will also be having a White Elephant Gift Exchange so don't forget:)

A Handmade Holiday

The first 50 people in the door get a goody bag,

including a ticket to participate in the star craft for free!

We wanted to show you a couple of the crafts that you can participate with us in! First we have a Moravian star. These look awesome on a tree! We will show you how to make your own and even send you home with the directions to make more!
(there is a small fee for this craft)

We will also be putting together these little bottle cap tags for you to attach to packages, keychains, or whatever else you can think of! They can be personalized or left just Christmas-y. (there is a small fee for this craft)

We also have one more craft available (there is a small fee for this craft).

Plus don't forget the handmade artists that will be selling their goods on Saturday too! There will be lots of unique items, perfect for Christmas shopping!

All of the proceeds from the crafts go directly to help our MOPS group provide ongoing services for local moms! We hope you can join us!

{Give Thanks} Novemeber Meeting

The November MOPS meeting is this coming Monday! November 14 from 8:45am to 11am.

Come with a grateful heart as we look at what's important this Thanksgiving season and what we should be thanking God for.

We will be making Gratitude Journals!

Feel free to bring scrapbooking supplies to share!

Don't forget the Operation Christmas Child boxes are due at this meeting in order to get them out to all the kids in time!

October 2011 meeting

Our second meeting of the year is coming up on Monday, October 10 at 8:45 am til 11am!

We'll be discuss the rewards and challenges of being a foster parent and take look at adoption! We'll also have a couple of guest speakers who have experience in these areas!

Remember, Monday is Columbus day, so if your big kids don't have school, they are welcome to come too! We'll have a place for them. And the other moppets rooms are still available!

We'll also be playing around with some different textures for our fall decorations!

Welcome to MOPS at Christ Alive! We are really glad that you stopped by.

The big idea behind this year's curriculum is MomSense. Our theme verse is

God doesn't want us to be shy with His gifts,

but bold and loving and sensible.

2 Timothy 1:7

MomSense is mom intuition + common sense. We'll be discussing strategies for mothering and how to engage in the "game" of motherhood while being bold, loving and sensible.

You'll notice in the Meeting Schedule up above, that the meetings will revolve around a game theme.

Our first meeting begin on September 12 at 8:45 am until 11 am. There is always childcare available. We will get you all the info about joining our group that morning. There is a $25 registration fee for the whole year. Feel free to call Alicia at 309-303-4965 with any question. You can also email any of the steering team. We hope to see you there!

May Meeting

Our last meeting of the MOPS year! We are excited to host a "Mentor Moms'" brunch! Please bring someone, such as your own mother, grandmother, or any mother that mentors you, to our brunch on Monday, May 9!

We will be having brunch of course, plus some crafts. Come ready to get your photograph taken too!

Can you believe it is April already!? Just this meeting and May's meeting and we will bring this MOPS year to a close!

Monday, April 11 @ 8:45am til 11am. Christ Alive Community Church right outside of Kickapoo.

This month, we have invited Angie O'Neill to come speak on "Girlfriends" with us. We are super excited this month! Hope you can join us!

Our craft this month includes scrapbooking supplies. If you feel like sharing, bring some of your stuff!

March Meeting

Our next meeting is coming up fast! March 14 at 8:45 to 11am The topic is "Social Science: Siblings." Joyce Dremann will be joining us to teach on the subject. Hope you can join us for some breakfat and a time of learning and sharing! Remember childcare is free!

We will also be having a playdate on March 31 at the Galesburg Museum! We will meet there at 10am. But we are going to discuss carpooloing at the MOPS meeting. There's tons of fun things to do there, even a large outdoor jungle gym!

February Meeting

Happy Valentine's Day! That's right, MOPS falls on Valentine's day this year. Monday, February 14 from 8:45am to 11am.

Remember that childcare is provided. We have a nursury for babies, a toddler room, and an older kids room. We also have a breakfast to share.

We'll be discussing husband/wife relationships and making a fun valentine for our sweeties:) Hope to see you there!

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a safe and happy Christmas! Are you ready to get back into the swing of things? We are at MOPS at Christ Alive! We are having Lynn Dawson come to talk to us about "Budget: Under the Microscope". She is the author and creator of the blog Savings Soiree. It's full of coupon links and deals around Peoria.

The meeting is on Janurary 10th at 8:45 am until 11 am. Remember that childcare is provided. We have a nursury for babies, a toddler room, and an older kids room. We also have a breakfast to share.

Also, are you so sad that we missed our Christmas party due to weather? Well, we are going to have Christmas in January! It's a bonus MOPS meeting this month! On January 24 at our regular time, we will have our white elephant exchange and a Christmas cookie craft!

December Meeting

Our next meeting is coming right up! December 13 at 8:45am until 11am. There are lots of things going on this month, we hope you will be able to join us for some Christmas fun.

Angie Delaney will be coming to speak. The topic is "Finding a Balance in Mothering." Angie is going to be helping us do just that by showing us some make-ahead-meals. We will also be working together to take home our own freezable cookie dough! Don't worry, you don't need to bring anything special. We'll have everything ready for you.

We will also be having a White Elephant Christmas Gift Exchange. Please don't go out and spend any money. Just bring your white elephant gift for the exchange. Don't really know what a white elephant gift is? Check out this explanation.

We hope to be able to spread a little bit of the Christmas Spirit to you! Remember, childcare is provided. We would love to have you!

We are pleased to announce that Teri Brandt is coming to speak to us. Teri is the one who founded our MOPS chapter at Christ Alive a few years ago. Now that her children are no longer preschoolers, she has went back to teaching. She will be speaking on "Healthy Relationships Start from Within".

We will also be apple printing on Monday! Here is a peek at what we will be doing!

We're having a playdate!

We would love for you to join us for our playdate at Apple Blossom Farm on October 8. Our tour is scheduled for noon. The tour is free but you can also pay $5 and get a pumpkin or some apples on the tour.

They have a picnic area just inside the orchard on your left, this would be a good meeting place for all of us. Some of us talked about bringing a sack lunch, or they do have food avaliable for purchase there. So if you'd like, you could join us for lunch around 11:30am, if not just meet us in the picnic area a few minutes before our scheduled tour.

Welcome to our fourth year of MOPS here at Christ Alive! Community Church. Last year was a very fun and rewarding experience for our small group of moms. We are looking forward to building on our membership for the 2010-2011 MOPS year. And we are glad you want to be a part of it!

If you missed February's meeting, you missed out on a great time. Pastor Jim Powell was an excellect speaker. Well, he didn't really speak as much as let us girls speak. He really broke down the big husband-wife relationship questions for us.

This year's theme has been "Life on Planet Mom". So this month we are going to be discussing "Cruising Along with Your Partner". We are grateful to have Pastor Jim Powell and (hopefully) his wife, Stephanie, joining us. He is the pastor of Richwoods Christian Church and has been highly recommended.

The meeting begins at 8:45 am, ends at 11:00 am.

Don't forget that childcare is provided, and so is a great little breakfast. See you there!

January Meeting

It was a success! Thanks to Ken Muck for coming and speaking to us, what an encouagement you were to us that day. Thank you for helping us to remember what is important in our lives.

Deuteronomy 6:5-9 were the verses Ken spoke on: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and whn you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you het up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."

How can we impress them on our children if the commandments are not in our own hearts? That's why we need a daily time with God. Ken encouraged us to read one chapter of Proverbs a day. Are you doing it yet?

Maybe we could take the encouragement from Annie in December's meeting to take a verse and work with our kids in memorizing and explaining a verse a week.

Christmas Party

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Our Moms' Night Out Christmas party is coming up on December 16 at 6:30pm. That's on a Wednesday, not Tuesday like I've been telling everyone! We are meeting at Avanti's on Rockwood (that's the one by Northwoods Mall).

We will also be doing a $10 gift exchange that night too:)

MOPS Meeting, Monday, December 14

The November Meeting...

was a big hit! We had a great time doing our crafts, which was a quart jar full of fixin's for a pumpkin bread. We made them up to give to other Moms of PreSchoolers that aren't attending our group.

A great discussion on what we were thankful for followed a movie presentation from MOPS.

MOPS meeting on Monday, November 9

This month we are going to be focusing on "Loving and Giving in Community Service". There will be all the regular fun things, such as the icebreakers, Life Bulletins, and group discussion. Our creative activity will involve a way to give to some special members of our community too.

The meeting begins at 8:45am and ends at 11 am. Child care is provided. Come join us for a great time!

What is MOPS?
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is an international organization for all moms of infants to kindergartners, providing an opportunity to meet other moms and make the journey of motherhood together.

In other words, it's a playdate for moms! We get together to share experiences and to find out we are not alone. We get a chance to get out with other moms who are going through the same things we are. We learn from each other, celebrate motherhood, support each other, and laugh--a lot!

Bring your children along! There is also a terrific childcare program called MOPPETS. We supply the childcare while you enjoy the company of other moms and your kids get to play. From newborns to preschoolers, they are all welcome!

What do we do?
Our group meets the second Monday of each month at Christ Alive Community Church from 8:45 to 11 am, September through May. At each of our meetings, moms enjoy a chance to socialize with other moms. We have a short time for announcements, fellowship and fun with a creative activity, followed by a speaker (on a topic moms would be interested in) plus a small group discussion that allows you to get to know other moms more closely.

In addition to meetings, we also plan some playdates and the ever popular mom's night out.
